White Rock Pier: Perfect For A Fish & Chips Lunch

There are many places to seek out and enjoy near the White Rock pier, including burger joints, ice cream shops, and many fish and chips options.

If you love seafood and want great cocktails then there are several restaurants that you should be checking out near White Rock pier this summer.

White Rock Pier To Remain Open

Despite crowds that have been coming to the pier recently, and BC going through its 3rd wave of the pandemic, authorities have indicated that the White Rock pier will remain open.

They have previously indicated that they could close it down if things got too out of control, with people coming in massive crowds and not wearing masks etc. But it seems that for now it is going to remain open.

Right now there is still BC travel restrictions that are in place and people are not permitted to travel outside of their regional health authority community for non-essential purposes. These current travel restrictions are in place until May long weekend but they could be extended even further.

One of the best reasons to go to White Rock is to have a great fish and chips meal for lunch or dinner. There are several places located near the pier that provide great food like fish and chips, and other seafood options, cocktails, and more.

Located right across from the water in White Rock you have Coney Island Seafood, Fishboat Restaurant, The Whale’s Tail, Moby Dick Restaurant, The Boathouse, and others. These are some great places to start.

Visit Charlie Don’t Surf

One of the best fish and chips locations is Charlie Don’t Surf located right on Marine Dr. Get dine-in, takeout, and delivery here if you want some fish and chips on a nice day out. Take it across the street and find a nice bench to sit down and enjoy the view. It is the perfect spot for great food and an outdoor patio.

Along with the fish and chips at Charlie Don’t Surf you can also find pizza, burgers, pasta, tacos, salad, and more. Try their Fisherman’s Hot Pot that comes with a variety like shrimp, wild salmon, cod, prawns, mussels, and halibut. Their Ahi Tuna and Pineapple Tacos are also amazing.

Start it all out with some crab cakes or firecracker prawns.

They’ve got all your classic favorites and comfort food, but some fresh new twists too. The drinks are great and you cannot beat the atmosphere and location of this spot. If you are heading to White Rock and craving a seafood meal then check out this spot.

In the summer you will find many people enjoying their fish and chips along the pier, down by the water, on one of the benches. Parking can fill up very fast in the summer so you will want to get there early and get a good spot. The Boathouse Restaurant is a classic, with several locations around British Columbia today, and one of them is right in White Rock near the pier. This is an upscale restaurant to go to for lunch or dinner, perfect for a date night or family dinner.

They have got your fish and chips on the menu but so much more than that. Try the Seafood Chop Chop Salad, Crispy Coconut Shrimp, or Hot Crab Dip for 2. You will find some of the best seafood dishes here to try like Coconut Pacific Cod, Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna, Pacific King Crab Legs, and Crab and Lobster Stuffed Ravioli.

The Best Food & The Best Drinks At The Boathouse

For drinks you are looking at options like a cucumber gimlet, mango mojito, apple blossom cooler, honey lemonade made with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey, Strawberry Watermelon Mojito, or a Boathouse Bellini with Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and the house made sangria.

Grab Some Ice Cream After Your Meal

Get a cone of something delicious from one of the many ice cream shops on Marine Drive and take a walk down the pier to see the beautiful sights of the beach and ocean, catch the sunset. Find a place to sit near Totem Park or along the beach somewhere. If you are looking for a perfect place to spend a beautiful summer day then White Rock is an easy answer.

You will find many different things to see and a variety of foods to try, shops to walk into and browse in. This is one of the most beautiful areas in BC to spend the summer, because it is so close to the beach and there is such a great environment along Marine Dr there.
