BC Vaccine Registration Opening Up For Those 18 Years and Older by Next Week

The vaccine program has been ramping up around Canada as officials look to get vaccines out as soon as they can to try and tackle the rising cases in the country.

As the weeks went by we’ve been seeing one age group after another get the green light to register for their appointment. Already there are over 9 million Canadians who have been vaccinated and who received their first dose.

Hundreds of thousands of Canadians get vaccinated each day and there are still many left who don’t have their first dose yet.

How many Canadians want the COVID-19 vaccine?

It is estimated that some 90 per cent of Canadians are open to getting the vaccine, with only 1 in 10 who are against it. When compared with other countries though on how far along we are for our vaccination program we are behind, but they hope to turn that corner soon.

Now with those 18 years old in BC being able to register for their vaccine it should mean that many more will be getting their first dose soon.

Over the next week they are going to be making the change so that in April those who are 18 years or older will be able to register for the vaccine.

BC officials are wanting residents in the province to wait though for their assigned date, certain age groups registering before others, so that the system doesn’t get overloaded.

How many Canadians have been vaccinated?

Over 10 million doses have been administered in Canada, this means people who have received at least one dose of their COVID-19 vaccine, and over 1 million have been given out in BC. Over 24 per cent of the Canadian population has received their first dose of the vaccine and that is still behind other countries like the United states.

The vaccine rollout has faced delays and scrutiny along the way but it is looking like they might get caught up soon.

COVID-19 cases are still rising in BC and around Canada and so there is hope that the vaccine programs are going to be able to quickly ramp up the prevalence of those who have been vaccinated, to try and reduce the spread. It will still be quite some time for millions more to get fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

This recent change for BC in inviting all adults to register for the vaccine, who are 18 and older, is going to drastically boost the amount vaccinated individuals a lot quicker than anticipated if they would’ve had to wait for a longer time before registering.

Already there are more than 1.1 million people in BC who have registered for the vaccine since they first launched the online site that allows people to do that. This is a small portion of BC that has been vaccinated but that is expected to change rapidly over the coming weeks.

BC is still facing certain restrictions because of the pandemic and indoor dining along with other activities has been restricted, with those restrictions extended and it isn’t clear when they might be lifted.
