10. Coquitlam Crunch
How long is the coquitlam crunch? This trail could easily take you over an hour to complete. This is considered to be a mini version of the Grouse Grind hiking trail. It is much smaller than the Grouse Grind and is an urban trail that follows up Westwood Plateau in the Coqutilam area. Overall you can see yourself hiking more than 4 kilometers here if you do the trail going there and back.
How long does it take to do the coq crunch? It could take almost 2 hours, with most people doing it in about 1.5 hours overall. Depending on how slow or fast you go you might be able to shave off a few minutes and get it done quicker. This is a great hiking region in Coquitlam that has beautiful scenery and isn’t that busy compared to the Grouse Grind hiking area.
9. Coffeeholic Cafe
Coffeeholic Cafe is in Coquitlam and they have good macarons and coffee. This is the best place that I go to for breakfast or lunch when I want a sweet treat with some iced coffee. It is a great stop for an afternoon snack or late night snack.

8. Cineplex Cinemas Coquitlam and VIP
This is where you can see a VIP movie in Coquitlam but right now they are closed temporarily. The pandemic has had a great impact on our movie theater industry as it has in other places around the world. With many more people watching things from home these days who knows when or how the movie industry might back that comeback.
This is a quality theater that has great food and service, it offers drinks for those who are legal drinking age and has served things like chicken sandwiches, boneless chicken bites, flavored popcorn, and much more. When you are looking to have a family night at the movies or a date night with someone special then making a plan to go to the Cineplex Cinemas Coquitlam and VIP venue is a great option to go with.
7. Coquitlam Center
You can find everything at Coquitlam Center from women’s clothing to the Apple store, Bath & Body Works, H & M, and many other great stores. You could easily spend an hour or two here if you are looking to have some lunch and do some shopping. Things are a bit different now because of the pandemic though. Retail shops might only be doing pick-up options right now for those who are ordering online and not opening shops for non-essential shopping.
It is easy to shop online though at places like London Drugs or Sephora and do a pick-up from the store or get that stuff delivered. One of the biggest draws here is the Sephora location and Bath & Body Works in Coquitlam, there are many food choices nearby as well.
Great Food And Shopping
If you want pizza, tacos, Chinese food, there is everything in the mall and right around the corner. Get iced coffee, KFC, salads, bubble tea, cakes, doughnuts, and more. There is plenty of parking and it is one of the best malls in the lower mainland if you are looking to do some shopping.
6. Bowling at Zone Bowling
Zone Bowling is a popular bowling location in Coquitlam that makes for a great family weekend plan. If you want to take the kids and have some fun bowling then this is the place to do it in Coquitlam. There are not many bowling spots to find in the lower mainland left and Zone Bowling is one of the best options around.
At Zone Bowling they have great food and a family-friendly atmosphere that is both clean and inviting. They have great hours too meaning they are open late if you are looking for some late night bowling action too. It is not just a fun spot for kids it can be a great date night and fun place for adults too, if you are looking to have some fun on the lanes.
The Zone Bowling in Coquitlam is located right next to the Coquitlam movie theater. Because of this perfect location that makes it easy to have a bowling and movie night together when the theater is open as usual.
You can also find a variety of good restaurants nearby like A&W, Browns by Superstore, ABC, or Wendy’s, if you want to eat or have a drink before going bowling then you can choose from many places. Either that or grab something on the way home after you are done bowling, either way you won’t have a lack of options when you get hungry.
5. Como Lake
Como Lake is a beautiful area in Coquitlam that is easy to get to and does have some limited parking. If you live nearby it is much better just to try and walk there and see the beautiful sights. You will see many people usually walking around the lake, birds enjoying themselves there. Kids playing in the park nearby and beautiful flowers blooming in spring.
This is a gem in Coquitlam and if you are looking for some fresh air and want to get out and see the sights, get a little peace and quiet, then this can be a beautiful place to do it.
Como Lake in Coquitlam is a big and beautiful lake area that will make for a peaceful walk, or provide some great benches if you want to read a little. It’s one of the most beautiful spaces in Coquitlam to enjoy. The best time to come is early in the morning or early afternoon, it isn’t like to be as busy then. But when the weather gets nice and people have time off work or school then it is typical to find many people out and enjoying the lake. It feels like a very safe area, there are also trashcans and public washrooms to be found.
4. Lafarge Lake
In central Coquitlam you will find Lafarge Lake. This is a beautiful lake area that is bigger than Como Lake and is located right near the mall. This is a stunning area that is often decorated at Christmas too with lights all around the lake though COVID-19 changed that. There is still much to see in this region and it is a beautiful, safe, and clean area of Coquitlam to enjoy.
There are many things to see and do nearby, including a visit to the mall, cafes, the library.
How do you get to Lafarge Lake? The easiest way to get to Lafarge Lake is to take the train because there is a station that is going to stop right outside of Lafarge Lake. When you get off at that stop you do not need to walk far at all.
You also do not need to worry about parking either. There is parking to be found at Lafarge Lake but it can easily get filled when things get busy and the weather is nicer. Taking the train can help to be sure you don’t need to worry about that and can still enjoy the lake and spend as much time there as you want.
3. Mundy Park
Mundy Park is located at the end of Austin Ave in Coquitlam and is a very beautiful park space to enjoy if you are looking for parks in Coquitlam. There are bike trails that go all around the region, softball fields, a disc golf course, and a parking lot with limited parking too. The trails here are beautiful and if you are looking for a new place to go for a walk and explore Coquitlam then why not check out Mundy Park.
The best place to park is the Mundy Park Hillcrest Parking Lot that is near the pool and disc golf course, or the Mundy Park Tot Lot. The Tot Lot is right next to the Mundy Park Softball Fields. This is a family-friendly space that is often very busy in the summer and when the weather gets nicer.
If you are looking for a big beautiful park to explore then Mundy Park should make the list if you are in the Coquitlam region. This is a big beautiful area that allows you to get outside but still be distanced and find your own space to enjoy. Bring a water bottle with you and discover the beauty that Coquitlam has to offer with this stunning park.
If it is your first time though it can be easy to get confused or lost because there are different trails, and no washrooms to be found along the way in most areas. There are trail maps to find though that are posted near the entrance and so taking a picture of the map can help you to navigate where you are going when you start to explore.
2. Lougheed Mall
Lougheed Mall is another mall in the Coquitlam/Burnaby region that is technically Burnaby but is very close to Coquitlam and located right on the border with North Road. There are many new buildings that are going up in this region and it is a quickly growing area all along North Road thanks to the skytrain that expanded through Coquitlam and Port Moody in the last decade.
Lougheed Mall has a good food area with many restaurant choices if you are looking for lunch or dinner. You can also access a variety of those restaurants through delivery apps if you want to get the order delivered to your home too.
There are stores like London Drugs, The Body Shop, H&M, Purdy’s, and others here. It is the 2nd mall that I would go with after Coquitlam Center if I were in Coquitlam and looking to do some shopping.
1. Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex
The Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex is always busy with people who are going for the lap pool, diving boards, indoor fitness track, or some other activity. There are many buses that also go by which makes this an easy location to get to if you are looking for somewhere in Coquitlam to visit and are taking the bus.
There are a variety of programs that get offered here and the Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex is located right next to the community center, tennis center, close to Como Lake, the Poirier Branch Coquitlam Public Library, and Tim Hortons is just down the street.
If you are looking to get the know the community better, to make some new friends around town, coming to this place can be that opportunity to learn about some new programs to take part in. This can be the best place to try and make those friends and get to know others in your community.
Not only that but it is also a great place to look to stay physically active in your community as well, with the pool and other fitness options. COVID-19 might have changed this for now but there will be a time when things get more back to normal for us.
