This year the Iranian New Year is going to be on March 20th 2021 which is only a couple days away from now. It will be a little different this year than last year. This is because changes have been made recently to outdoor gatherings in B.C. so we will likely see more people going out to celebrate the Persian New Year than last year because of that.
There are many great Persian restaurants around Vancouver and the lower mainland that you could show your support for during this time.
From North Vancouver to Coquitlam and other areas, you can find great Iranian restaurants that are serving favorite dishes like ghormeh sabzi, sabzi polo, joojeh kabob, and many others.
The weather is nice enough out now that we might see some picnics in the park this week as those from all around the B.C. region and other areas join with their close circles to celebrate.
Food is a great way to celebrate the New Year or any occasion, and a perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. You might find a cuisine that you love and a dish that you stick with for years to come.
If you haven’t tried Iranian food before, think of this week as a great opportunity to branch out and experiment. There are many great restaurants to find that can help you get a taste of many of these delicious meals like those mentioned above.
The Iranian New Year in B.C. this year on March 20th celebrates a new beginning.
Last year there were many virtual events to mark the occasion and there will still likely be many this year too, but there has been an easing of COVID-19 restrictions for gatherings in various places.
The recent changes in B.C. to outdoor gatherings will make it easier for friends and family to gather to celebrate the New Year together.
Here are a few restaurants to consider if you are looking for some Persian food in the lower mainland to try.
Some of those venues are: Shandiz Persian Restaurant, Cazba Restaurant, Mehman Restaurant, Persian Gulf Restaurant, Papa’s Shish Kabab, Shiraz Grill, The kebob House Restaurant, and there are others.
In Langley, Coquitlam, North Vancouver, and other regions, there are great Persian restaurants serving Iranian favorites and it gives the perfect chance to celebrate for Nowruz but also support local businesses that need it most.
The restaurant industry has been hit hard by COVID-19 and small businesses need community support now more than ever if they are going to survive. Best of all is you get some great food while you’re doing it.
