Taking care of yourself gives you the energy to be able to take care of others around you. If you neglect taking care of yourself then you aren’t going to be able to operate at your best to give to those who you love or those who need you.

Especially after going through something like the recent pandemic, now more than ever it is important to try and find something enjoyable in our lives, focus on the positive, or try to gain some mindfulness to bring peace back into our lives.

It has been a crazy time for all of us, some more than others who have been going through tremendous stress and anxiety. But we have all been feeling that mental health struggle now because of COVID-19, say mental health experts, and for that reason placing the health of our body and mind should be a top priority for us.

From loved ones lost, jobs lost, homes lost, standard of living decreased, hope decreased and pessimism for the future growing, health experts across the world have reiterated the importance of self-care and investing in your own mental health and well-being.

There are also various lists highlighting one self-care product after the other that can help you to find some relaxation at a time when you might be a little extra stressed or looking for something that will help you focus on feeling good for you.

Now after almost one year since the lockdowns started from the pandemic there are more and more people who are looking to prioritize their self-care. Many want to get more mindfulness and positivity back into their lives, balance all that negative last year with some positive.

We saw that the online wellness industry was booming last year as people turned to make the most out of their time. It might have been looking for workouts to do at home, learning about cooking different recipes, or finding out about meditation.

When millions became stressed about the unknown associated with COVID-19 they turned to tools that can help and for many that meant things like meditation and mindfulness apps, they saw hundreds of thousands of downloads.

Health care experts have made a variety of suggestions when it comes to pursuing that self-care and bringing some positivity back into our lives.

Among those suggestions are things like following your passion, finding ways to connect with others, maintaining a routine, getting help for any struggles when you need it, and focusing on small goals at a time. The most critical point some urge, that we should remember, is that things will get better.

What personal self-care looks like to one individual is going to be very different from what it looks like for the next. It could be as simple as something that helps you to unwind and focus on the good, to find some positivity and peace like making a goal list or sticking with a schedule and feeling that accomplishment and progress. There are many tools that people have turned to which have been able to provide value and that feeling like they’ve gotten that self care that they need.
